Across government agencies, certain private and sensitive information must be removed or redacted from documents in order to publish or share them across agencies or to the public. For example, the IRS has to redact non-profit information on 990T’s before publishing them. This can be a tedious and manual process, so FedTec Innovation Lab has put together a solution to automate certain aspects of processing redaction.
The Solution
Below is the demo video for our Textract tool, tailored to streamline the digitization process of handwritten forms such as the IRS Form 1040 and 990. Utilizing the collective power of leading OCR engines, our platform offers optimized accuracy and efficiency in extracting handwritten data. Users simply upload their handwritten forms, and our integrated OCR engines meticulously analyze and recognize the text, extracting crucial information like names, addresses, and financial figures. In addition to digitization as a PDF, with just one click, the user can send this document to Salesforce in order to streamline the workflow for the uploaded document.
For users uploading sensitive forms like the IRS 990, our tool provides an extra layer of security and privacy. Upon uploading a 990 form, users have the option to selectively redact specific data points of their choosing, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with privacy regulations. This feature empowers users to safeguard sensitive information before sharing or storing their digitized documents, enhancing peace of mind and confidentiality in handling sensitive financial data.

FedTec Labs’ solution makes the redaction of sensitive information easy and seamless. Once a form template is created, users can select which fields on the form should be redacted, and this will apply to all future forms matching this template. Whether the user needs to redact data from a PDF or XML file, Textract can accommodate the user’s requirements, and accomplish the task with speed and accuracy.
